Eduard Grebe Consulting offers a range of scientific and technical services to research institutions, public health agencies, blood services, diagnostics companies, and government bodies working in infectious diseases and blood safety. Services for commercial entities in health and other fields, including business intelligence and data science consulting, are also available.

Study design & planning #

Expert input into the design of epidemiological studies, surveillance systems, and clinical evaluations. Services include protocol development, sample size determination, and methodological consultation for studies involving clinical and epidemiological endpoints.

Data management & pipelines #

Design and implementation of robust data management systems and automated processing pipelines. From raw data ingestion and quality control through to analysis-ready datasets, with a focus on reproducibility and auditability.

Data security & confidentiality #

All engagements are conducted under strict confidentiality agreements, in line with clients’ policies. Data handling practices follow established principles of information security, including access control, secure storage (encryption at rest and in transit), and responsible data disposal. Experience working with sensitive health data, regulatory submissions, and pre-publication research under institutional data use agreements. All staff or subcontractors with access to human subjects research data have appropriate human subject protection training.

Data analysis #

Statistical and epidemiological analysis using R, Julia and Python, with particular expertise in blood donor surveillance data, serological and nucleic acid testing assay performance characterisation, HIV incidence estimation, recency testing algorithm evaluation. Analysis services extend to statistical modelling for causal inference, hypothesis testing, dynamical modelling, scientific communication, and evidence-based recommendations.

Bespoke scientific software #

Development of custom scientific software, including R packages, web-based tools, and analytical frameworks. Past work includes the inctools R package and its newer Julia implementation for HIV incidence estimation, web-based infection dating tools, HIV transfusion-transmission residual risk estimation and an agent-based simulation model for forecasting supply and demand of COVID-19 convalescent plasma.

Research reports & manuscripts #

Preparation of technical reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and regulatory submissions. Services encompass writing for scientific journals and scientific and technical audiences, presentation slide decks and plain language summaries. Copy editing and related editorial services are available through a network of experienced collaborators. Support for the full communication lifecycle, from grant proposals through interim reports, scientific publications, and public-facing communication.

End-to-end research services #

End-to-end research support: from initial concept and study design through data collection oversight, ETL and pipeline development, analysis, and final reporting. Suitable for clients who need a single point of scientific accountability across the complete project lifecycle.
